Random Monday

1. One complaint about the election that I can't stand: how "uncivil" our political process has become. It has never been civil . If you fondly remember a time in your life when politics was "civil," then you probably just weren't paying attention then.

This seems like a good time to re-share this little gem:

I've actually heard a few people say things like "our country has never been as divided as it is now." Which makes me want to say things like, "Do you know nothing about history? There was this little thing called The Civil War back in the 1860's. Half the country fought a war against the other half. Ring a bell? Do you really think we're more divided than we were then?"

If so, I'm done talking to you.

2. One more election thing I don't get: our county coroner is an elected office. So you see signs saying "So and So for Coroner!" I haven't actually seen any TV ads for this office. What would those sound like?

"Vote for our guy, he likes dead people more than the other guy does!"

See? That just doesn't sound right.

3. We didn't "do" Halloween this year. We had an alternative activity at our church. At which our kids received far more candy than small folk really need.

Their granddad, on hearing of all their loot, at lunch yesterday said something like, "That sounds like a lot of candy. What's your address again?"

Polly began to recite our address.

But Tigger shrieked, "Don't tell him!!"

You know, 'cause there's no way Granddad already knew our address. (Not to mention the fact that he's far more likely to stop by with more treats for us rather than actually taking any of ours.)

4. Non-delightful fact: Miss Lili and now I seem to have some sort of slow moving non-incapacitating but still annoying stomach bug. I'm starting to feel like I can't catch a break on the health front. Maybe this means we're getting all our Winter ailments out of the way at once and will be healthy for the rest of the season? I didn't think so either.

5. Happy Birthday to my wonderful Mother-in-Law. And happy anniversary (tomorrow) to my brother- and sister-in-law. Sorry you have to share your special days with all this election stuff.

What's up on your Monday?

Love the political observations. I needed a laugh while I'm waiting for this last blood draw.

Love the political comments! And yes, people who are ignorant of history ARE so annoying, aren't they?

My dad told me a few years ago that his town had just voted to require the county coroner be a doctor. I was like, "what? You mean all these years it's just been some GUY?"

I promise to be candid and you can be too. Blogging is best when it's a conversation. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and respond. I enjoy hearing what you have to say.
