Weekend Links - December 24, 2011

It's Christmas Eve - are we excited yet?!

1. Loved this post - How To Protest: A Guide for Occupiers. The best line in the essay is the last:
There are many ways to protest, but the best protests of all begin with wisdom, responsibility, a posture of humility, and a clear purpose.
2. I had never heard of The Mundaneum before this week. I wonder what happened to all those index cards?

3. I love inspiring stories like this one: 21 Year Old Emerges from Coma. We still know so little about the human body.

4. Wonder what Amazon.com looked like when it was launched? Wonder no more: World's Biggest Websites at Launch.

5. Thoughts about Christmas. Brandy's post contains several interesting links about Christmas origins (although I am, of course, not saying I agree with everything in any of these essays) and here are two more: Is Christmas Pagan? and The Pagan Origins of Christmas? Lots of "ponderables", just in case you have time for reading this Christmas.

Pins of the week:
I bought everything I need to make these necklaces (and my two oldest have requested that I make them each one as well):

I'm definitely doing a Pride and Prejudice one and I'm trying to decide between a few vintage Anne book covers. I'll share pictures once I get around (ahem) to making them.

I've been picking up vintage bulbs at thrift stores and yard sales. I may have to make a wreath like this for next year:

From the "random images sparks a trip down memory lane" edition of Karen's brain:

My sister and I used to collect Kool-Aid points. We got a pitcher, some plastic mugs, and two bright red "fanny packs". Please try to contain your jealousy. One of the perks of being a preacher's kid was the refreshment ladies saving the Kool-Aid points off the huge containers of Kool-Aid consumed in our VBS.

Ah, good times, friends. Good times.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a fabulous weekend. (And a good night, too.)

I promise to be candid and you can be too. Blogging is best when it's a conversation. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and respond. I enjoy hearing what you have to say.
