Top 10 Tuesday - Birthday Edition

In honor of her tenth birthday (Today!!!!!!!!!!), here are 10 Reasons I Love My Daughter:

1. She's funny. She totally gets my sense of humor and it's always nice not to have to explain a joke.

2. She's smart. Too smart for her own good sometimes. But still: brilliant.

3. She loves to read. We love to talk about our favorite books. I am thoroughly enjoying seeing some of my childhood favorites through her eyes. Plus we get to have spirited Nancy vs. Trixie discussions.

4. She's compassionate. She hates to see anyone hurting. One thing she talks about being when she grows up is a dentist. Not because she wants to make a lot of money but because she wants to help children who get hurt and need someone who (these are her words) "Understands what they're going through."

5. She loves dogs just like I do. And one of these days, when we get a house with a fence, we're going to get that dog. It will be our dog (but we might share with the others).

6. She's {usually} a good example to her younger sisters. She's reliable. If you tell or ask her to do something she will do it.

7. She loves all of her family. Parents, grandparents, sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins, second cousins...she's loyal to all of us.

8. She's creative. She created and sells her own board game. She draws, writes, sings, crafts...her creativity inspires me.

9. She loves to watch musicals with me. We like to sing all the songs so if you're not into that sort of thing, you might not want to watch with us.

10. She loves God. She wants to know more about Him. She wants to serve Him. She loves attending church, memorizing scripture, singing in the choir, and discussing deep things with us.

Happy Birthday, Dearest Polly. I am blessed to be your Mom and I'm thankful you're taking all my experimentation (the first child = guinea pig) so well. If we only had you we'd think we were parenting experts and we'd write a book. (Since we also have your sisters, we know we'd better wait on the book.)
