Look-Worthy Links 5/7/11 Edition

1. First off - I am now on Pinterest. You can find me on there using the candiddiversion name (just like Twitter). I'm just starting out but I love it already. Eventually I may not need any other bookmarking sites to keep track of things. If you'd like to try it out let me know - I can send you an invitation. This post by The Weekend Homemaker explains the what and how of Pinterest.

2. The other big news in our house this week is that we are now the proud owners of an IKEA Expedit shelving unit and -this is going to sound familiar - I love it already. This post shows lots of these shelves and how others have used them. Ours is the black 5x5 version (that is: 25 cubes)

3. I don't knit but if I did, I would have to make these Hello Kitty pants. Cutest. Thing. Ever. I'm sure there will be some for sale on Etsy. I haven't checked yet to see. If anyone feels the urge to make / buy these, Lili will need the 12 or 18 month size this fall. {smile}

4. This "rock rug" is genius. Finally, a project to use the rock "treasures" my girls bring home. Or not. But anyway, great idea!

5. I love making useful, utilitarian things into beautiful things. These wipes containers are a great example of that principle in action.

6. Another up-cycle: a fence made from old shutters. Brilliant!

7. Pleasant View Schoolhouse (an always lovely blog) has a great tutorial for filling a low cut v-neckline.

8. I love this closet turned book nook. If only I had a closet to turn into a nook. One disadvantage of an old house - very little built in storage, especially closets.

9. I don't know if I'm just craving summer or what, but I know I've been choosing a lot of s'more related recipes lately. These S'more Stuffed Brownies look amazing.

10.  Speaking of brownies, these Fudge Brownie Surprise Cupcakes look great too.

11. I just had a quick discussion on baby names with my friend Amy the other day. She had tweeted a few baby girl names and the only one I really didn't care for was Katelyn. Apparently, I'm not the only person who feels that way. It made the list of Most-hated Baby Names in America. Now, I'm not saying I agree with this list in its entirety. I actually love some of the names on this list. But that one? Yeah. I agree. No more Kaitlyns Katelyns Caitlins Katlyns Katelynns Catelins Whatever. And no more Kaylas, Mikaylas, or the like while we're at it.

12. Did you know that television ownership has dropped here in the US. This article says so. (And it's in the NY Times so it must be true. *clears throat*) I found it interesting that several different things were blamed for this (the internet, poverty) but no mention that some folks might just have decided to live without television. For us it's definitely the internet. But I do know some folks who have decided to kick the tube to the curb for good. Frankly, whatever the reasons might be, I think the country would be better off if television ended its stranglehold on our population and this statistic ought to be celebrated rather than worried over. [/sermon]

So, what about you? Find any good stuff this week?
