30 for 30 - Things I'd Order

I tend to be one of those "I'll have the usual" people. Once I find something I love at a restaurant I generally order it every time. After you read this list, you'd be able to order for me. Which would be handy because I'll probably be in the restroom helping at least one little girl wash her hands when the waitress comes by.

1. Portabello Ravioli - Olive Garden. What I love: the mushrooms, the cream sauce, the colors.

2. Salad - Olive Garden. At the risk of sounding like a commercial, yes, I could eat just the salad.

3. Yeast Rolls - O'Charley's. They're the best "complimentary" bread. Hot, with butter...

4. Reece's Pieces Blizzard - Dairy Queen. You can't get these at every Dairy Queen any more, which makes it all the more special when you do see them.

5. Cappuccino Chip Latte - Panera. A ridiculously good caffeinated beverage. No longer available, to my knowledge. And I will always miss it. {sniff}

6. Broccoli Cheese Soup - Panera. This stuff is so good my girls beg for me to share it with them.

7.Bloomin' Onion - Outback. I love these things. Only good if you have lots of people with which to share.

8. Shrimp Scampi - Red Lobster. I  love shrimp, have I ever mentioned that?

9. Philly Cheesesteak - Penn Station. Greasy and therefore extremely messy but so worth it.

10. Orange Chicken - Lin's Garden (local Chinese restaurant). Just the right degree of heat.

11. Works Pizza - Papa Johns. My favorite pizza, although I do pick off the sausage. But "vegetable pizza with pepperoni but not sausage" doesn't have the same ring.

12. Jalapeno Cheddar Peppers - Sonic. Sounds kind of strange but I always get an order if I happen to be at Sonic.

13. Pineapple Shake - Sonic. Sonic is one of the few places you can actually get a pineapple shake. A favorite of mine since I was a kid.

14. Cherry Limeade - Sonic. Crazy refreshing. Have I mentioned that we don't actually have a Sonic near us. Do you feel sorry for me yet?

15. Double Cheeseburger - McDonald's. Yeah, I know, I ought to order a salad if I am so stupid as to eat under the golden arches. Only I don't want a salad and I do want this. Also:

16. French Fries - McDonald's. The best fries in fast food. Strangely, these are also the most like the fries in a real French restaurant. (Of which I've eaten in two, to my knowledge.)

17. Chicken Tenders - Chick Fil A. While chicken tenders are not exactly my favorite food, these are great and any excuse to go to Chick Fil A is a good one in my book.

18. Blondie Brownie - Applebees. Philip and I have devoted ourselves to finding the best copy of this for home use. We haven't settled on a recipe yet, but we're having fun trying.

19. Raspberry Tea - Ruby Tuesday. I love flavored ice tea and this is one of my favorites.

20. Burrito Supreme - Taco Bell. A nostalgic favorite.

21. Clam Sauce & Spaghetti - The Old Spaghetti Factory. I love this stuff and, fortunately for me, Philip makes a great version of this.

22. Cheesecake Factory - OK, I couldn't narrow this one down. I have never eaten anything here, entree or dessert, that I didn't like. (I tend to look for the words "dark chocolate" or "raspberry" when choosing which piece of cheesecake, but that's just a general guideline.)

23. Queso Blanco Dip - Don Pablo. I'm sure other places make a great queso blanco but this is the most recent in my memory. I'm pretty sure I could eat just tortilla chips and dip (or guacamole) at any Mexican restaurant.

24. Starbucks. Anything with whipped cream on top. Blended cold drinks are fine, but nothing with whole ice cubes, please.

25. Caramel Apple Milkshake - Steak and Shake. Only available in the last part of the year. Crazy good.

26. Cinnamon-Sugar Pretzel - Aunt Anne's. My favorite thing to eat in a shopping mall. Messy but worth it.

27. 6 inch roast beef sub on wheat. My usual order at Subway. With: mayo, lettuce, tomato, provolone, and banana peppers. I actually ate this so often at the Subway Philip and I frequented while we were dating that the guy behind the counter knew my order. That's pretty much the only time in my life I could have said, "The usual" and had it mean something.

28. Black Raspberry Chip Ice Cream - Graeter's. Pretty much the best ice cream ever.

29. Vegetable Soup - Frisch's. Comfort food in a bowl (or cup, if you prefer). Usually ordered with:
Vanilla Coke. Sure, you can get Vanilla Coke in a can but that doesn't come over perfectly crushed ice with just the right amount of flavored syrup.

30.I would be remiss if I didn't mention one other food: Skyline Chili. This is not Texas chili. Yes, it has strange ingredients. I suspect you have to be born here to really like it. I was. And I do.

So, you and I are out to eat together. What do you order?
